Hello and welcome! My name is Lauren. I'm a vaccine injury survivor turned informed consent and medical freedom advocate. This is my story.
In 2015, when I was 13 years old, my doctor pressured me into getting the Gardasil 9 HPV vaccine. He said that I would die of cervical cancer if I didn't get vaccinated. Before this vaccine, I was perfectly healthy and had no major health issues.
After the first shot, I didn’t have any noticeable changes in my health. Following the second shot, I began to experience extreme migraine headaches. It felt like there was an intense pressure at the base of my neck. This pressure would then spread upwards and wrap around my skull. It escalated to the point where I would have migraines from the time I woke up in the morning to the time I went to sleep. I also began to experience muscular and joint issues such as muscle spasms, joint pain, lower back pain, and my hips were constantly popping out of place. I developed severe abdominal pain, acid reflux, constipation, and bloating. My digestion was horrible and everything I ate made me nauseous. I began to experience other neurological issues such as memory loss, brain fog, slurred speech, chronic fatigue, circulation issues, and neuropathy. On top of all of these symptoms, I also started to have hair loss and rapid weight loss (and then fluctuations in weight). Following the second shot I got my first menstrual cycle, but it never came back.
I went to see my doctor because I was feeling so sick, and he told me that I was just stressed from school. He gave me some medication to subdue my migraines, and while I was there he said that I might as well get the last shot of the Gardasil series. Shortly after receiving the third shot, my parents found me curled up in a fetal position on the couch, barely responsive, because I was having so much pain in my skull. They drove me to the hospital immediately. In the following week, I went through a series of tests and visited many different specialists. I was diagnosed with occipital neuralgia, vaccine-induced encephalitis, secondary amenorrhea, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), hypothyroidism, and tendonitis. Many doctors speculated that I had POTS although I was never tested for this. I also had over twenty-five food sensitivities all of a sudden!
At this point, it was clear that I was experiencing an adverse reaction to the Gardasil vaccine. My pediatrician filed a report of my injury to Merck, and later on my parents filed a report to VAERS.
Because of Gardasil, I had over 50 absences during my freshmen year of high school. I had been a successful athlete and played volleyball on a national level travel team as well as the varsity team for my high school, but I had to quit playing volleyball due to my new health issues. I became depressed, isolated, and bedridden. This vaccine completely changed my life.
For the past seven years, I have been completely focused on trying to recover. I post more about my healing journey on my Instagram account @healingfromgardasil.
Not only have I been working hard to heal, but I have spent countless hours researching HPV vaccination. By the time I made it to college, I had become so passionate about this topic that I chose to pursue a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences. This gave me the opportunity to further study biology, anatomy, physiology, psychology, pathology, chemistry, health behaviors, research methods, public health, and more. After everything that I have learned through both my formal education and personal research, it has become abundantly clear to me that I did not receive proper informed consent from my doctor when he told me that I should get Gardasil. And as I have started to speak up about my experience, I have quickly realized that I am not alone. At this point, I have connected with thousands of individuals who have experienced similar adverse events from Gardasil as I did (or worse), and it appears that most of us were not informed of the risks. Instead, we were fear mongered, pressured, and coerced into vaccinating.
Everyday, I am so grateful that my injury was not worse than what it was. I am grateful that I have seen progress towards recovery and have been able to live a somewhat normal life. But most of all, I don't want what happened to me to happen to anyone else. I don't want anyone to have to go through what I went through. This is why I want to use everything that I have learned from my personal experience and education to teach others about the true risks and benefits of Gardasil. I want to help people become informed so that they can make proper educated medical decisions for themselves and their children.
To anyone who may be reading this, I am glad you're here. I hope that my story and the resources I've compiled on this website help you in some way. If you have been injured by the HPV vaccine, please know that you are FAR from alone.
